HLOVC - House of Love for Orphans and Vulnerable Children

This community of volunteers is based in Rundu, Namibia, and runs a kindergarten, orphan feeding program, supplies school uniforms and makes home visits to support orphans and develop their life skills.

In 2006 this group received 10 bicycles from BEN Namibia, which have enabled them to visit children more often, take clothes and bread from their sewing project and bakery to market for sale, fetch firewood and water, transport sick children to the clinic and save huge amounts on taxi fares for general transport.

In early 2008, HLOVC received a BEC (Bicycle Empowerment Center) from B4H Ottawa - stocked with 350 bicycles, spare parts and tool. Click here to review results

HLOVC now is able to supply bicycles to more volunteers and to orphans living long distances from school, and generate income in support of their other projects. In addition, due to high volume of needs in the region, HLOVC will become a hub in the area, providing transport for more than 10 groups working in Home-based care (HBC) and Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) programs as well as HIV/AIDS support groups.
